Put your burning questions to our ‘Meet the Expert’ sessions

SfE’s new and popular ‘Meet the Expert’ sessions will again be taking place at this year’s SfE BES Meeting. We’ve brought in experts from across the UK to discuss specific topics in basic research and clinical practice, and we want you to drive the debate.

To make the sessions as interesting, relevant and varied as possible we’re inviting you to submit a case or issue to present to the expert at each session. Synopses should be 300 words, and should be based around issues with new research technologies (for the basic science sessions) or practical aspects of research, diagnosis and/or management (for the clinical sessions) in one of the topics described below.

Sessions:

Basic

Optogenetics: controlling cells with light (Expert: Rudolf Allemann (Cardiff), Wednesday 21 March)

All you need to know about CHIP-sequencing (Expert: J Carroll (Cambridge), Wednesday 21 March)

Clinical

Have your say – suggest a topic to be covered at the SfE BES conference

Is there an endocrine topic that you would like us to cover at the Society for Endocrinology BES conference?  Do you feel that the endocrine community should know more about your research area?  We are now asking for suggestions from endocrinologists for scientific sessions to be held at the 2013 SfE BES conference, which will take place in Harrogate in March 2013. The deadline for sending us your suggestions is 31 January 2012You can submit your ideas at: http://www.endocrinology.org/meetings/ScientificSessions/.

At the SfE BES conference, we have a number of different types of session designed to suit basic scientists, clinicians and nurses.  These include symposia, meet the expert sessions for basic scientists and clinicians, clinical management workshops, clinical debates and nurse sessions. For ideas on the structure of sessions, have a look at our 2012 programme: http://www.endocrinology.org/meetings/2012/sfebes2012/prog/prog.aspx

To submit your ideas for 2013, you need to provide us with a title and a brief overview of the content that the session should cover.  We also ask you to suggest up to four speakers and one Chair who would be suitable to take part in the session.  However, if you are unable to identify speakers, you may submit just a topic that you would like to know more about.  All suggestions will be discussed by our Programme Committee before final decisions on content are made.

If you have any queries, please email members@endocrinology.org. We look forward to receiving your suggestions.
